Information I Collect
I do not actively collect any other personal information about you through this site.
When you visit my website, you send the computer hosting our pages your IP address so it knows where to send the pages back to you. That is the only reason your IP address is used by my servers, and it is not required for anything else.
How I Use This Information
- To deliver web pages to you.
- To maintain security and site functionality.
- I do not use IP addresses for marketing, profiling, or resale.
I collect IP addresses only where necessary to keep the site secure and deliver content. I rely on my legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website as the legal basis for this processing.
Where Processing Takes Place
My site is hosted in India. When you visit my website, the server processes your IP address solely to return content to you.
International transfers are covered by my data processing agreement and Standard Contractual Clauses with my host.
Retention
Your IP address is retained for a short while by the Apache server after it has served your requested pages to your correct address, and then it is deleted automatically.
Cookies
I do not set tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. I do not use cookies to profile you.
Processors
I use service providers (hosting and backup) as processors solely to operate the site.
Your Rights
If you are located in the UK, EU, or other jurisdictions with data protection laws, you may have certain rights concerning access to and deletion of personal data. In practice, these rights have very limited application on this site because I do not retain your personal data beyond the short-lived server logs described above.
To exercise your rights, contact me at editor@telegraph.com.
You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Conclusion
This site is run independently and only collects what is necessary for it to work.
