Near the church there are two bars and two shops selling food.


Accommodation:
Hostal Puente, Paseo de los Fueros, is good value but can be noisy. Bikes may be kept in the utility room.  The Meson Peregrino is comfortable but expensive, Fonda El Gares (on the bypass) is good and the Fonda Lorca does excellent meals.


Turismo in Plaza Mena. Tel:948 34 08 45 Open Tues-Fri 1000-1900 & Sat-Sun 1000-1400. Hostal Jakue has a dormitory for 20 in the basement, 16 Euros. Hot showers, supper from 1900 at 7 Euros. Hotel Rural Bidean Calle Mayor 20. Tel: 948 34 11 56 has rooms for 80 Euros. On the main road Meson del Peregrino tel: 948 34 00 75 has a pool. Rooms are for 70 Euros. Hotel Jakue Irunbidea has double rooms for 80 Euros. and 10 Euros for menu.Two good bars are Charlie Bar and Bar Yony. Refuge: the refuge (33) of the Padres Reparadores is about 100 yards from the monastery on the way in to town. Bunk beds, no kitchen. Space to camp at the back. Ask at seminary for key.
Campsite: El Molino at Mendigorria, 6km south of Puente; class I site, open all year and good for the whole Roncesvalles to Logrono area; recommended, but may be expensive for walkers and cyclists.


Directions:
Fork left down road (marked Yesos Pamplona). This leads to gypsum factory. Continue downhill, fork right over bridge, cross triangular “square” and continue along the Calle de la Esperanza into the Plaza de los Fueros and the Casa Consistorial; houses with blazons. Turn left at end, then right and continue on Calle Forzosa/Camino de Santiago straight through fields. (a charming view of Ermita de Aniz on the hillside above to the right.) Pass cemetery (on your left). Keep straight on; track joins from back left shortly after. Stick to this road, which forks left. Turn left at “T” junction and right immediately after onto footpath, between hedges, walls and fields. This takes you to the hilltop village of Cirauqui.
