Continue straight through village (Romanesque church on right) on a UMUR (in the direction of the windmills all the time). 500 m after village, ignore left turn but take left fork at “Y” junction 20m later. Steep uphill road (a lonely tree on right hand side of path as you go upward is an ideal resting place under evening sun}
You come to a splendid fountain (it does not always work). Then there’s a spot named Gambellacos. Legend has it that a tired and thirsty pilgrim making his way up to the Alto del Perdon was confronted by the devil disguised as a walker. The devil offered to show him a hidden fountain on the strict condition that he renounces God, the Virgin Mary and St James. The pilgrim spurned the devil. St James, disguised as a pilgrim, came to his rescue and led him to a hidden fountain where he was able to quench his thirst with the help of his scallop shell.
